Our client wanted to transform her dark, claustrophobic condo into an open and vibrant space where she could showcase her original artwork. The goal was to incorporate the client’s love of art into a cohesive design with elegant, custom details that will stand the test of time.
To achieve this, we removed walls in the kitchen to turn the dark and dated room into a welcoming space. We used a creative mix of custom cabinetry materials, including gray-washed white oak to compliment the new flooring, white gloss uppers and matte bright blue tall cabinets.
Jewelry-like artisan pulls repeated throughout the kitchen help tie the space together and add contemporary, artistic flair.
Other kitchen details include a chef-style sink, quartz counters and motorized assist glides for heavy drawers. Because storage was an issue, we borrowed space from the main floor bedroom closet to create a “butler’s pantry” featuring leather-faced drawer fronts, adding a bit of glam and extra storage for kitchen items.
The new luxe master bathroom is within a small footprint and continues the contemporary art theme seen throughout the home. Colorful wallpaper, wall-mounted washlet toilet and sink faucet, floating vanity with strip lighting underneath, marble-look quartz counters and large-format porcelain tile, all help make the space feel larger. For a touch of flair and function, the bathroom features a fun pink sink faucet, strategically placed art niche and custom cabinetry for optimal storage.
It was also important to our client to have a home where she could have accessibility while aging. We added features like a curb-less shower, removable shower seat, grab bars and ample lighting so the space will continue to meet her needs for years to come
