Our client purchased this 1925 home with all its charm amidst Portland’s beautiful Laurelhurst Park area. The home displayed the standard layout of that era with small confined rooms and lacking real usable kitchen space. The homeowner loved the character of the house, yet realized it was begging for an upgrade and freshness throughout.
Our team met with the client to go over his wish list for making this his forever home. The main objectives were to remove the wall dividing the kitchen and dining room, design a true master suite, with striking master shower, add a walk-in closet, move the washer and dryer upstairs and completely update the home from basement to rooftop.
Cascade’s crew removed the barricading kitchen wall.Without the wall, the cook can now enjoy entertaining friends at the kitchen peninsula. The kitchen is complete with timeless polished Carrara marble countertops that fit with the era of the house, glass tile backsplash, new state of the art stainless steel appliances and a new enlarged dining room window inviting natural light in.
Creating space for the new master suite required the mason chimney to be removed. No easy task! An aluminum fireplace flue was installed as a replacement. We repurposed one tiny bedroom to enlarge and design the new master bathroom, create an upstairs laundry and walk-in closet space. The new bathroom has an enormous walk-in tile shower with multiple spray heads. We used Carrara marble tiles for the shower walls and a tile accent as the focal point. This master bathroom is complete with heated tile floors, elegant claw-foot soaking tub and self-flushing toilet. The beautiful tiled walls and marble countertops finish this room creating a warm elegance.
This remodel is a wonderful example of how Cascade Renovation can update a classic house while keeping its original charm.
