COOPER Design Builders helmed an exceptionally attentive restoration of this historic 5,000 sq ft Irvington estate. Sitting squarely within the Historic Irvington neighborhood with very strict parameters for restoration, these challenging limitations were truly an opportunity to craft a fully updated home in keeping with the intentions of the original architecture. A seamless blend of modern space planning, comforts, and convenience are harmonized with classic Mediterranean character, a timeless aesthetic, and luxury appointments. This historic home is a truly compelling representation of how to carefully remodel for the past, present, and future.
We focused on restoring this gracious home to its former splendor utilizing historically accurate materials including all wood leaded glass windows and detailed custom millwork. All three levels of this home are filled with expert craftsmanship, from extensive custom cabinetry to each and every carefully selected materials and finish. Extensive engineering was required to redesign the outdated layout for floor plan that emphasized the connection of family, friends, and entertaining. All new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and insulation provide all of the comforts and efficiency of a new build within the elegance of a historic home.
Upon entry, a custom wrought iron staircase railing was crafted for the elegant waterfall staircase that greets you in the grand formal foyer. The gourmet, open-concept kitchen is flooded with natural light and designed for entertaining, anchored by a dramatic honed marble island and featuring a separate pantry wall and wet bar and breakfast nook. Upstairs, the stunning master suite features bright, spacious his and her closets and a Juliet balcony; the enormous spa-like bath features a soaking tub crafted from volcanic pumice stone and gorgeous Carrara tile work in the oversized walk-in shower and marble radiant heated floors.
