Whole House Remodel

PRO Remodeler: John May
OR CCB #173954

Project Details

Some older homes have very closed-off floor plans, which does not work for many of today’s homebuyers. With so much of life happening in the living rooms and kitchens, having them open to each other instead of separated can be so important, and so easy.

We took out a very large fireplace from the middle of this home, that took up so much space, to do exactly that, as well as cabinets that were closing off the kitchen and blocking the sightlines in the space. Instead, a large island was installed with fun backsplashes and mixed metal finishes. There is even a wine fridge in the island.

  • Creative ceiling and floor transitions designed to limit scope creep
  • Stylish but safe pops of color with navy cabinets and mosaic backsplash
  • Concealed wine fridge and microwave incorporated into the island without going custom
  • Economies of scale savings with a large island counter designed for cooking, entertaining, homework and snacks
  • 16-foot long fireplace wall removed to open up first floor and kitchen, all without breaking the budget
