Lloyd Martindale: C & K Custom Remodeling
2020 + Live and in-person on the 2022 Tour!

Lloyd Martindale, the owner of C&K Custom Remodeling. People often ask how I came up with the name C&K and for me it was simple. I wanted to name my company something that would inspire me. I took the first letter of both of my children’s names and C&K Custom Remodeling was born.

While going to school, I worked for my parent's property management company learning to be a skilled handyman. Later, I went on to work for other licensed contractors refining my skills and becoming versed in many aspects of building science. In the summers my father and I would purchase a house for the purpose of remodeling and selling. In 2002, after much encouragement from family and friends, I started C&K Custom Remodeling with the goal of building a Portland general contractor business that focused on customer service and true craftsmanship. I designed C&K with a commitment to a clean, family-friendly, professional work environment and all of our teams have been built around these principles.

John May: Creekstone Design + Remodel

2020, 2021 Virtual Tour + Live and in-person on the 2022 Tour!

John May started Creekstone Designs almost two decades ago in Minneapolis, Minnesota, fresh off the heels of living a dual life as a business consultant for one of the “Big 6” and doing design and remodels for clients. He was fortunate that his talent and passion helped him realize he was a designer/builder with a consulting problem - so he followed his expertise into founding Creekstone Designs, specializing in designing and installing residential remodels.

Keith Knowles: EverLife Home
Live and in-person on the 2022 Tour!

Some folks just have building genes in their DNA. Keith Knowles, EverLife Home founder, is one of them. Keith grew up and apprenticed with a true craftsman, a father who leveraged a fine wood furniture hobby into a general contracting business. From age 12 Keith worked in his father’s firm, Robert Knowles Construction. During that time Keith was blessed to learn the construction trade from excavation and foundations to the fine finishing of a new home or remodel.

After graduating from Whitworth College with a marketing degree, Keith decided he’d apply his skills to the start-up high tech arena. The industry wasn’t as satisfying to him as home construction, so in 2005 he returned to Robert Knowles Construction. His involvement led the company to win a Silver Merit Award for Whole Home Remodel from the Portland Metro Home Builders Association. From there a stint within the solar industry winning awards like Trade Contractor of Year 2011 set Keith on a future course of client and industry accolades. Instilled with craftsmanship and integrity, in 2017 Keith founded EverLife Home, a business run on biblical principles. The organization’s aim is creating forever homes for clients within the Remodeling, Aging in Place and Accessory Dwelling Unit, ADU specialties. In pursuing that vision, Keith holds Certified Aging in Place (CAPS) and Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Specialist designations.

Brian Schmidt: Brian Schmidt Builder
2020, 2021 Virtual Tour + Live and in-person on the 2022 Tour!

He sets the highest expectations for every job and takes pride in visiting a home that was once just an idea or a drawing on paper.
