John May: Creekstone Design + Remodel

John May started Creekstone Designs almost two decades ago in Minneapolis, Minnesota, fresh off the heels of living a dual life as a business consultant for one of the “Big 6” and doing design and remodels for clients. He was fortunate that his talent and passion helped him realize he was a designer/builder with a consulting problem - so he followed his expertise into founding Creekstone Designs, specializing in designing and installing residential remodels.

Joe Petrina: Petrina Construction

Joe Petrina’s lifelong dream was to own his own small business.

Joe’s father owned an east Portland meat market, where Joe honed his entrepreneurial skills. His interest in carpentry grew during his time at the University of Oregon and Portland State University.

He began working as a carpenter in 1974, building small decks and fences. A one-man show, Joe grew skilled at framing, cabinetry work, and finishing. Just three years later, at the age of 23, he founded his own company and expanded into remodeling all areas of the home: kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and new homes. Perhaps more importantly, Joe discovered his innate talent for helping home owners achieve their dreams.

Brian Schmidt: Brian Schmidt Builder

Brian started his own building and remodeling company during his early career in management and real estate. Every detail of every project reflects Brian’s passion for building and remodeling. He sets the highest expectations for every job and takes pride in visiting a home that was once just an idea or a drawing on paper.

Jeff Metke: Metke Remodeling & Luxury Homes

Since 1989 Metke Remodeling and Luxury Homes has been turning dreams into reality and clients into friends. Whether you’re considering a new build or whole house renovation, looking at a kitchen or bathroom remodeling project, or want to create an outdoor entertainment space, with Metke Remodeling, you’re not just getting a contractor for a few weeks… you’ll have a friend and remodeling partner, for years to come. Metke Remodeling & Luxury Homes began as a custom woodworking shop specializing in interior finish carpentry.

Since then, Jeff Metke, President, his wife Teresa and their team have been earning the trust of delighted customers for over three decades. That trust and satisfaction has enabled Metke Remodeling and Luxury Homes to grow into an award winning design-build remodeling company.

Eric Thompson: Oregon Homeworks

We love modern design. The simple lines, crisp finishes and efficient spaces. But all too often, many new homes simply throw extra square footage to address design shortcomings. We believe bigger isn’t necessarily better, which is why we work with Portland’s best architects and designers (luckily, we have lots to choose from) to create our plans. Step inside an Oregon Homeworks home and you’ll immediately recognize the difference. Live in one, and you’ll truly appreciate the excellence.

Lloyd Martindale: C & K Custom Remodeling

Lloyd Martindale, the owner of C&K Custom Remodeling. People often ask how I came up with the name C&K and for me it was simple. I wanted to name my company something that would inspire me. I took the first letter of both of my children’s names and C&K Custom Remodeling was born.

While going to school, I worked for my parents property management company learning to be a skilled handyman. Later, I went on to work for other licensed contractors refining my skills and becoming versed in many aspect of building science. In the summers my father and I would purchase a house for the purpose of remodeling and selling. In 2002, after much encouragement from family and friends, I started C&K Custom Remodeling with the goal of building a Portland general contractor business that focused on customer service and true craftsmanship. I designed C&K with a commitment to a clean, family friendly, professional work environment and all of our teams have been built around these principles.
