“I did not see that coming!” This is what we hear after each visitor has seen the newly remodeled basement. BreAnna Lee Design and Rebuild teamed up to knock out this o u t s t a n d i n g space. And this is exactly why we chose this type of remodel for the show this year. We could have shown another beautiful kitchen or huge addition, but with things in Portland going the way they are, it seemed more appropriate in our hot market to show how a basement can be transformed with smart choices to feel just as nice as a main floor home. Trends for close in, on bus line, walkable areas are so hot. Due to the land in city being completely used up, folks are staying put and remodeling their homes. What we enjoy more than a trip to Salt & Straw is to meet you at your home and brainstorm possibilities on how you can gain the needed space by reconfiguring to best utilize your existing space, or adding on to grow either outward or upward. It’s what we do.
You will soon see this basement has all new everything! It was first gutted, drains replaced, all electrical rewired, rear roof canopy enlarged and steps relocated to better orientation, zoned heating was installed so upper floor and lower could call for their own temperature, ran power to garage, added rain drains, added custom kitchen, expanded the custom bathroom with NuHeat floors, used pocket doors to save space, wired whole home for data, maximized storage, and then finished it off with a great paint job all while following the cohesive design plan we set in place. This is a perfect example of designing smart and executing professionally.
